Our associates are some of the best in the business and we pride ourselves on working individually with each and every client to ensure they are getting exactly what they are seeking. Additionally, the PPS team collaborates with an extensive network of subject matter experts and can offer a diverse team of consultants to support client engagements.

PPS staff credentials include; Registered Sanitarians, Certified Health Officers, Food Safety Professionals, Registered Nurses and Emergency Management Professionals.

The four individuals that founded Public Protection Specialists, LLC come from diverse backgrounds, providing a nice compliment to the services offered.  The four Principals oversee all aspects of the firm, directing every project from origin to completion.

Leadership Team

Bridget L. Sweet, RS, REHS/RS, CP-FS
President and CEO

Bridget Sweet is a founding Principal and currently serves as President and CEO of Public Protection Specialists, LLC.  She manages the strategic direction of the organization as well as the day-to-day business operations of the firm. Ms. Sweet’s expertise is founded on several years of public health and food safety leadership experience, and senior level management responsibilities within the public and private sector.  She has an accomplished background working with both state and local public health agencies, as well as a variety of other regulatory authorities. Ms. Sweet is a recognized leader in food safety services specializing in: Food Safety Inspections and Audits, Risk Assessment, Pest Control Evaluations, Quality Systems, Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) Planning, Food Defense Programs and Employee Trainings.

Ms. Sweet has an extensive background in public and environmental health with several years’ experience at the local level. She is a member of several professional associations and is a National Association of County & City Health Officials Survive and Thrive Fellow. She holds several professional certifications including; Massachusetts Registered Sanitarian (RS), Registered Sanitarian/Registered Environmental Health Specialist (RS/REHS), Certified Professional-Food Safety (CP-FS), Certified HACCP Manager, Certified ServSafe Instructor, Massachusetts Certified Soil Evaluator, Certified Pool/Spa Operator and is a Managing Retail Food Safety Certified Trainer.

Ms. Sweet’s past engagements include serving as a local Public Health Director, Food Safety Auditor, Sanitary Inspector for a large City Health Department in Southeastern Massachusetts. She also served as the Environmental Public Health Officer for Harvard University, where she was responsible for university-wide consultation on various food safety and public health issues.

Ms. Sweet holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Safety and Environmental Protection and is currently working toward completing a Master of Science in Food Safety.

Brian J. Gallant, MPH, M.Ed., CHMM
Chief Operating Officer

Brian Gallant is a founding Principal and currently serves as Chief Operating Officer of Public Protection Specialists, LLC.  In addition, he serves as lead educator and trainer for PPS and frequently conducts/facilitates drills and exercises with a range of clients, from health departments to various public safety agencies.  Mr. Gallant’s key role is running the day-to-day operations of the firm and focusing on making sure the team has every resource it needs to serve clients.  Other responsibilities include project direction and administrative oversight for a wide range of projects.

Mr. Gallant is a recognized expert providing fire, safety, emergency preparedness, and public health and environmental consultation services to various clients around the world.  He has consulted in the government sector, nuclear industry, general industry, manufacturing, academia, construction, marine safety and biotech.

Mr. Gallant has been published in several magazines and periodicals.  In addition, he has authored several books including; “Hazardous Waste and Emergency Response Manual,” published by Joseph Wiley and Sons, “The Facility Manager’s Guide to Environmental Health and Safety,” and “Essentials of Emergency Management: Including the All-Hazard Approach,” both published by Government Institutes.  He is a contributing author to “Disaster Management Handbook,” published by CRC Press.

Mr. Gallant has held several leadership positions including;   Vice President, Emergency Management Director, Director of Fire Training, Hazardous Material Officer, Department Fire Investigator and Shift Commander (Fire Lieutenant).  He holds the professional designation of Certified Hazardous Materials Manager.

Mr. Gallant holds an Associate’s Degree in Fire Science and Safety, a Bachelor of Science in Management, a Master of Arts in Education and a Master of Public Health.

Megan Baldwin, MS, RS
Senior Consultant

Megan Baldwin serves as a Senior Consultant for Public Protection Specialists, LLC.  She provides technical expertise, project management and consultation services to public sector clients, with an emphasis on public health and food safety compliance.  Her primary role has been providing contract services for municipal health department’s including; food compliance inspections, staff augmentation and various program management consulting.

Ms. Baldwin has an extensive background in public and environmental health with several years experience at the local level, conducting food compliance inspections, food-borne illness investigations and administering food compliance programs.  She is a recipient of the Massachusetts Environmental Health Association’s “Innovation Award” for demonstrating an innovative vision for implementing environmental health programs.  She has completed the extensive Foundations for Local Public Health Course, through the Massachusetts Local Public Health Institute.

Ms. Baldwin’s past engagements include serving as Senior Health Inspector for the Town of Brookline Health Department and Sanitarian for the Town of Watertown Health Department.  She holds several professional licenses and relevant certifications including, Massachusetts Registered Sanitarian.

Ms. Baldwin holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and a Master of Science in Work Environment.

Robert E. Buker, REHS/RS
Senior Consultant

Robert Buker serves as a Senior Consultant for Public Protection Specialists, LLC. He provides technical expertise, project management and consultation services to public sector clients, with an emphasis on environmental health and wastewater compliance. His primary role has been providing contract services for municipal health department’s including; on-site wastewater, storm water, wells and various environmental health consulting services.

Mr. Buker has an extensive background in public and environmental health with several years’ experience at the local level, administering environmental health compliance programs. He is a recognized expert with in depth knowledge of comprehensive system plan reviews, percolation tests, soil typography, septic installation compliance inspections, storm water and Title 5 system inspections. He holds several professional licenses and relevant certifications including, Registered Environmental Health Specialist/Registered Sanitarian, Massachusetts Certified Soil Evaluator, Massachusetts Certified Title 5 System Inspector and Certified Pool/Spa Operator.

Mr. Buker’s past engagements include serving as a local Sanitary Inspector, Owner of an independent Title 5 System Inspection company, and has inspected hundreds of septic systems throughout southeastern Massachusetts. In addition, he served an Environmental Scientist/Engineer for a national environmental engineering firm. He was responsible for groundwater remediation and environmental monitoring activities throughout Massachusetts and was the primary representative for the Otis Air Force Base remediation project. Mr. Buker’s primary activities ranged from basic sampling and monitoring, plume modeling, subcontractor oversight and operation of the Geoprobe drilling rig.

Mr. Buker holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Safety and Environmental Protection.
